Turner's Wood Open Day and Planting at Pelsall Commons
West Midlands,

About the event
We're opening up our Turner’s Wood nature reserve for the public to explore on Wednesday 29th May, 10.00am — 14.30pm! You'll also have the opportunity to get involved with boosting biodiversity as we hold wildflower planting sessions on the nearby Pelsall Commons!
A spinney dominated by oak trees with some scots pine, holly and rowan, Turner’s Wood is a hidden gem which is not normally open to the public. A good site to discover woodland birds, and home to a beautiful display of bluebells each spring, the site has existed for at least 170 years (and may be much older)!
So come along to discover it for yourself! You're free to explore the site at your own leisure, and our staff will be on site to answer any of your questions and help you spot wildlife.
Planting sessions will take place at 10.30-11.30am and 13.00-14.00pm. Taking place as part of our Purple Horizons partnership project, our expert team will be on hand to explain the importance of the planting, especially for one of the UK's rarest bees, as we plant Tormentil, Harebells and Cat's Ear on Pelsall Commons.
- Please wear shoes/clothing suitable for visiting a nature reserve and note that there are no toilets available on site.
- On street parking only, please be considerate of residents when parking.
