The Wildlife Trusts call on HS2 to publish plans for no net loss and net gain for biodiversity

The Wildlife Trusts believe it is now clear that in proceeding with the current plans and implementation of HS2, the Government will be unable to meet its commitment to leave the environment in a better state for the next generation.

On 10th May, the Wildlife Trusts wrote to the Chair of HS2 regarding concerns about the project's ability to meet its commitment to leave the environment in a better state for the next generation.

The letter, signed by The Wildlife Trusts CEO Craig Bennett alongside 14 other Trusts, calls on HS2 Ltd to publish its strategy, calculations and plans as to how it intends to achieve:

1. No Net Loss for biodiversity, and

2. a Net Gain for biodiversity
