School Visits to our Centres

A visit to one of our two environmental education centres provides an unforgettable learning experience for Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key stage 2 classes. School groups can book a trip to either EcoPark in East Birmingham or to our Centre of the Earth in Winson Green where our expert educators will lead your group on a journey of exploration and discovery. Choose from one of our curriculum-linked Wild Workshops HERE.

What you Need to Know

Will the sessions be led?

Wild Workshops are led by one of our skilled Educators. You bring along adequate adult supervision, a register of children and your own first aider and first aid kit.

How many pupils can attend?

Workshops are for a maximum of 32 children (one class) from Reception to Year 6 (please contact us about nursery visits which may be possible). Classes might be divided into groups on the day, as and when needed.

What are the session times?

Wild Workshops are typically 1.5 – 2hrs long, depending on your needs, and can be booked for a morning or afternoon session. Start and end times can be flexible to fit your school timetable and will be agreed on booking.

What is the cost?

Wild Workshop sessions are £185. A 15% discount is applied if you book 10 or more workshops in one academic year.

How do I book?

Our Education Team is often busy out delivering, so the best way to get in tough is to email us at education@bbcwildlife.org.uk with details of Year group, chosen workshop and a selection of preferred dates. When dates have been agreed you will receive a booking form and booking agreement.

What should we wear?

Both sites require adequate outdoor clothing – warm, waterproof layers and sturdy shoes (ideally wellies) in the winter and sunhats, sun cream, long sleeves and covered legs in the summer.

What about bad weather?

If the weather is risk assessed by us as unsafe because it is too wet, cold, windy or hot you may be offered a rescheduled date. Sessions will go ahead in light rain and wind. Make sure pupils and staff have the right clothing.
