Visiting the Reserve

Getting to the Reserve

The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country encourages the use of green travel when visiting nature reserves.

The reserve has a good network of footpaths from the local housing & shops including the main entrance off Yardley Wood Road, the pedestrian entrance from Pensby Close and access from Windermere Close playing fields.

There are three frequent bus services from the City centre which stop 5 metres from the main entrance, which are as follows:
2 - Birmingham City centre – Sparkbrook – Yardley Wood – Warstock/Maypole
3 - Birmingham City centre – Sparkbrook – Yardley Wood – Shirley – Solihull
3A - Birmingham City centre – Sparkbrook – Yardley Wood – Shirley – Acocks Green
Bus timetables:

There is a small public car park at the Yardley Wood Entrance and a couple more spaces on the road nearby. The main car park is only opened for events, but access is required through the gates at all times, so please do not block these when parking. Visitors can park at Windermere car park, off Windermere Road, which can be seen on the map. For further information about using the main car park please contact the reserve officer.

Walking directions from Hall green train station to Pensby Close entrance (15min walking)

Head northwest 102 ft
Turn left toward Stratford Rd/A34 95 ft
Turn left onto Stratford Rd/A34 0.1 mi
Turn right onto Cole Bank Rd/B4146. Go through 1 roundabout 0.4 mi
At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Wake Green Rd 387 ft
Turn left onto Thirlmere Dr 0.1 mi
Turn right onto Pensby Close
Head to the end of the close, here are steps to Moseley Bog and also an entrance through the gates to the right into the new meadow.
Please note wheel chair access is from the Yardley Wood Road entrance.

How to find the reserve

Moseley Bog & Joy’s Wood is located in the Springfield area of Birmingham approximately 5.1 km (3.2 miles) south of the city centre. The main entrance is on Yardley Wood Road (the closest postcode is B13 9JX). The Ordnance Survey grid reference is SP092821.
