Wild Summer 4 - Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger hunt

Wild Summer volunteer Phillip Hickson reports on the fourth week of our wild summer at EcoPark as families were invited to go on a scavenger hunt and make tree sprites thanks to the support of players of People's Postcode Lottery.

My Wild Summer fun continued, despite the rain last week, with 17 families coming to the EcoPark to enjoy a Scavenger Hunt and make clay Tree Sprites.

Families were challenged to find as many signs of summer as they could around the EcoPark, including hazelnuts, petals, leaves eaten by caterpillars and the elusive daisy. They took to the challenge with earnest, and returned with trays filled with items.

The families could then make a ‘Tree Sprite’, a funny or scary face made out of clay that they could than put onto a tree either around the park or at home. From witches and gargoyles to cherubs and self-portraits, a huge variety of faces were made to decorate trees in the area.

My Wild Summer continues this Wednesday with everyone’s favourite, Pond Dipping!
