Families go wild this summer

Tuesday 26th July 2016

Families will have a chance to go wild this summer by taking part in a series of free fun days being run by The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country.

We will be holding 15 Wild Summer fun days at our EcoPark in Birmingham, thanks to support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery. The EcoPark offers a wonderful haven for wildlife – and people who want to escape city life and enjoy the simple pleasures of nature.

Guy Belding, Education Officer for The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country, says:
“These events will be a fantastic opportunity for families to explore the EcoPark and have fun learning about nature. Children are always thrilled to see the wildlife here - from searching through the undergrowth for minibeasts to finding tiny froglets in our ponds!”

The Wild Summer fun days will include:

• leaf rubbing on July 27,28 and 29;
• making natural picture frames on August 4 and 5;
• minibeast hunts and making clay creatures on August 10, 11 and 12;
• scavenger hunts on August 18 and 19;
• pond dipping days on August 24, 25 and 26; and
• raft making on August 31 and September 1.

To find out more visit our What's On guide. Each of these drop-in sessions will be held from 10am to 3pm, and children must always be accompanied by an adult.

With support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery, we have also been able to publish a free guide on wildlife to look out for in Birmingham and the Black Country. The ‘My Wild Summer’ booklet can be downloaded here.
