Beer launchSacre Brew and Wildlife Trust launch new beer

Wolverhampton brewery Sacre Brew has produced a special beer for the winter, which also gives a warm glow for supporters of The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country.

‘Wild Winter’ will be on sale this week and is a sweet chocolatey, smooth imperial porter to help you get through cold winter nights. It has been hand crafted using only natural ingredients and half of the profits made will go directly to protecting local wildlife.

Gwen Sanchirico of Sacre Brew explains: “I brew with the seasons. It's one way to keep connected to natural cycles. Many people crave darker beers when it gets cold out and this imperial porter really hits the spot. It's comforting and contemplative, like a beery version of hot cocoa.”

Joe Peacock of The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country says: "Winter is actually one of our busiest times, as we can work to improve the habitats in woodlands without disturbing nesting birds with young chicks, so it’s wonderful to get some extra support from this brilliant local brewery.

“You can discover local wildlife at any time of year, with winter bringing opportunities to see migrating birds coming in from colder countries, snow providing opportunities to look for tracks and there is also an amazing array of fungi in the woodlands right through until March. What could be better after a day walking round a nature reserve than to relax with a beer that is helping to protect wildlife?”

The artwork for the bottles was produced by Birmingham artist Peter Tinkler, who was inspired by the two ravens of Odin in Norse mythology. They represent Hugin and Munin, Thought and Memory, while the gnarled branches in the background represent the starkness of winter.

The Wildlife Trust are still organising walks in the winter, such as a winter birds walk at Hill Hook in Sutton Coldfield and a History and Archaeology walk at Moseley Bog & Joy’s Wood.

Wild Winter porter will be on sale directly from Sacre Brew, as well as in their usual outlets, such as the Hungry Bistro in Wolverhampton and some of the best off licences in the area.
