Santa receives a letterPeople ask for a Big Wildlife Boost

Local people today made a plea to a special festive guest asking everyone to boost wildlife this Christmas.

With a report this year showing that 50% of wildlife has disappeared in the last 40 years, The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country have launched “The Big Wildlife Boost” to make sure that 2015 is a good year for local nature.

New Chief Executive Georgia Stokes explains: “At Christmas we surround ourselves with festive images of robins, snow scenes, holly and of course trees but the reality is this wildlife we take for granted is under threat. Birmingham and the Black Country has such a unique and varied natural landscape and we at The Wildlife Trust want to make sure it is protected and developed for everyone to enjoy for generations to come.

“Over the past two years we have created 40 wildflower meadows, improved woodlands and got thousands of people outdoors enjoying the natural world. We know that together we can achieve even more, that’s why this Christmas we are asking everyone to help us protect the local environment by donating to our Big Wildlife Boost appeal.”

With the festive season approaching, many people are drawing up their wish lists and The Wildlife Trust hope that protecting our beautiful and valuable wildlife is something that everyone will include at the top of theirs.
