A Bigger Meadow for Kitchen Lane, Wolverhampton

Our final Nature Improvement Area Wildflower meadow project for this summer was on 6th August at Kitchen Lane Open Space in Wolverhampton.

This site was different to the others that we had done through the month, as it was both the donor site for the new meadow and the recipient.

In the late nineties a wildflower meadow was created at this previously industrial site using the same techniques used this summer on other sites. This year the hay was used to extend the meadow across a much larger area. To see a new meadow being created this way is an excellent example of how a man-made urban meadow can be used to further improve the urban environment for both people and wildlife.
